Both pray for deliverance from the same God. What is this madness?

- The world is effectively random, whether God exists or not. Time to send out another resumé?

* Are teenagers good indicators of whether or not we are successful parents?

- Probably not. Some people abuse their kids until they can escape and those kids turn out fine (though not because of their parents). The answer you want probably requires you to ask a more complex question (reading up on the nature/nurture debate is a good starting point).

* On a related topic, is society as a whole, American or global, really in decline? Sort of the Are-the-old-geezers-right? kind of question.

- "Times are bad. Children no longer obey their parents, and everyone is writing a book." - Marcus Tullius Cicero.

Every generation thinks the world is ending, and every generation, it doesn't. Which suggests that something more complicated is going on.

* What am I teaching my kids about love, church, faith, career really?

- The sociological evidence is that children are overwhelmingly likely to end up less religious than their parents, so, on the middle two - probably not what you want?

* Some days i wake up and i'm just in love, it flows naturally and mysteriously. Other days i wake up and choose to be loving, despite how i may feel. Which is the truer love?

- As long as you're in love, does it matter? Also, your question presupposes an objective frame of reference that I'm not sure can ever exist.

* Where is the space, what is the role of the artist/poet in these economically Hunter/Gatherer times?

- The same as it always is - to get better at what they do. And there's no damn space at all, so if you need it, go make some.

* Is an adult who builds with Lego indulging in a creative hobby and artform or are they just sick?

- As long as they're not off raping people with Lego dildos or stealing off the shelves, the former. Sports fans and Republicans get up to far more recondite shit in the regular pursuit of their hobbies.

* Do online social networks represent real community or are they an unhealthy illusion and distraction from real communities?

- They can, although mostly they don't for structural reasons. Forums and blogs tend to be feudal (as your response to this comment is likely to prove).

* Are we doomed to become our parents?

- We're doomed to be shaped by our parents, and that's bad enough, don't you think?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36872658.post-51432434570638741292011-05-16T14:39:35.723-07:002011-05-16T14:39:35.723-07:00Well, sir, if we're sick then we're at lea...Well, sir, if we're sick then we're at least in good company :)

Dude, i give you so much credit for even trying to comprehend my nonsense. Most of my friends don't have any idea what i'm saying and they know me and speak English as a first language! i shall have to come back to that question some time... maybe sometime soon.scruffyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04127548900155916268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36872658.post-51389633565465083722011-05-16T12:08:47.702-07:002011-05-16T12:08:47.702-07:00Interesting bunch of questions... That's why I try to drown my brain by watching Lego and all kind of old toys on the web, and by spend countless hours sorting little bits of ABS. So maybe, for your question about AFOLs, that we're truly just insane ("lol") BUT, in a way I prefer this kind of insanity to many others (by example, to be a fan of beer/football/TV/war, in a word to be the "normal 21st century man") - Sorry, don't pay too much attention to what I've written, it's just instant toughts... Glad that I find your blog, looks very interesting (but somewhat difficult for my limited english)crimsohttp://www.flickr.com/photos/crimso-giger/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36872658.post-86461984183075595662011-02-25T02:31:58.102-08:002011-02-25T02:31:58.102-08:00Too big a topic to just reply to in comment form b...Too big a topic to just reply to in comment form but i'm afraid that the sins of the ancestors have a way of coming round again and again.scruffyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04127548900155916268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36872658.post-18613221185900787612011-02-24T10:49:08.548-08:002011-02-24T10:49:08.548-08:00* Are doomed to become our parents?

Thinking only begets more thinking...it's it's own addiction-cycle, but there's no Betty Ford for it. Cold-turkey...take one and call me at the crack of early afternoon.

R.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
